Finding Your Blog Niche Carefully!

Finding your Blog niche is the first step to joining the ranks that have their own successful Blogs. By now I am sure you have read a ton and had enough of it already! You have read about Blogs and Blogging and you know how to create a Blog. You even know how to market your Blog and make money with Blogs. But, you donít know where to begin?

So here are a few questions to get your creative juices flowing fast:
  • Is there something you want to learn about?

  • Is there something you are really good at?

  • Is there something you know a lot about (a skill, a specialty, a profession)?

  • Are you passionate about a particular hobby?
If there is something you want to learn about, why not learn and teach others at the same time? There must be others interested in the same thing too! And if you are really good at something and think others want to know what you know, you can write about that too. And what if you spend 25 years in your technical profession and know a lot of the ins and outs of your specialty? I am sure there are many dying to know what you know. If all else fails, I am sure you have a hobby or two that you indulge in?

Whatever it is that strikes the right cord, just listen to it and follow its beat to create your own. In other words, pick your passion, talk about it and create your own Blog!

The Next Step after Deciding on Your Blog Niche

Once you have decided what your Blog niche will be, the next step you should take is to research that niche. In fact, I recommend narrowing down your choices to 2-3 topics. This way, you can choose the topic that is most profitable for you based on research results.

There are 3 key components you should evaluate in researching your Blog niche; demand, supply and keywords. The demand for your niche tells you the level of interest for your topic amongst Internet surfers. Supply will tell you how many other websites address that demand. And keywords will give you an insight on what Internet users are typing in search engine searches.

The idea is simple. Focus on a niche with a high demand, low supply and create content focused around keywords that have both those characteristics. This equation leads to profitability online.

Use Search It! to research your topicís supply and demand. Search It! is completely free to use. Donít get overwhelmed with the broad functionality of this tool. Just play around with it and you will get comfortable in no time. Make sure you use the Google Adwords Keyword Tool (provided free with Search It!) to further assess the demand for keywords pertaining to your niche.

Search It! will not only assist you in researching the demand for your niche and keywords, but will also provide you with who your competition is. Carefully review each option you have in the drop down menus and you will be able to assess how much competition you face in each niche.

This research exercise should help you narrow your ideas down to one final Blog niche. And even if you already have a Blog niche thought out, make sure you go through this critical research stage to ensure you have a solid list of highly demanded keywords that you can create content around. I cannot emphasize how important keyword research is.

Take Your Blog Niche a Step Further

Consider using the SBI suite to research your Blog niche. SBI offers a comprehensive solution by providing you with a Brainstorming tool, a Niche finder tool, the Search It! (full version) database and a built in keyword research tool.

These tools together will help you go from 0 to 60 before you even know it! in addition, SBI allows you to create a website with automated search optimization features working behind the scenes to ensure you are indexed and ranked as high as you can get with search engines.

I strongly recommend creating a website around your niche to supplement your Blog, or vice versa. Some create a website first and later create a Blog (like me). I have heard all sorts of arguments from sides. The bottom line is, more content will only help your Blog or your website, or both!

Make Money With Blogs

Making money with your Blog niche is actually the easy part Ė in my opinion at least. Because once you have a Blog that is generating steady traffic levels, you can easily use one of the many ways to make money online to your advantage. The process is no different that making money from a website.

When I say easy, I am assuming that you already have a high traffic volume (at least 100- 200 visitors per day). Getting to that level requires research, patience and persistence. Of course you also need to execute your research into actions.

A quick word on passion

If you find a highly demanded topic with a low supply that can be extremely profitable for you, ask yourself if you have a true passion for that topic. If you hesitated by just a second, donít do it!

Iíd rather have you pick a topic you are most passionate about. It might take longer to realize success, but it will be inevitable. Passion is the fuel you need in tough times that will keep you going and provide that extra push to crank out just one more Blog post.

Trust me, your interest level will make all the difference! This will ensure you donít give up and abandon your Blog in tough times. Just remember, some of persistence, patience and a lot of passion is a recipe that hardly ever fails.

Conclusion

No matter what your Blog niche is, the most important thing to remember is that you have to update your Blog constantly with fresh content that interests and engages your target reader. You want to keep the momentum going by adding more Blog posts and encouraging your readership to engage in quality discussions. Not to mention that search engines also love to see this. To them, it simply means that the Blog owner is truly interested in the topic, provides good quality content and is a real human being!
